Mothers Opposing Bush
Esther M. Massimini

"Well-behaved women rarely make history." - American historian Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

Must read: Talibanism in Technology by Deepa Kandaswamy

The music is Johann Sebastian Bach's "Concerto for Two Harpsichords", BWV 1060. I first heard this concerto when I was 17, and have loved it since!

ACTIVISM

Politically, I have been appalled by the actions of the President. I am involved in the following organizations:
Mothers Acting Up
Move On
Madre
Veterans for Common Sense

I am also an environmentalist. We are proud owners of a Toyota Prius. Sports Utility Vehicles are truly an environmental evil if they are not needed for function or to accomodate larger families. If Detroit produced more hybrid vehicles, the Dick Cheneys of the world would not need to go to war to get oil.

Another area I am concerned about is GLOBALIZATION. Current globalization trends such as off-shore outsourcing foster a continuation of colonialism and stifle innovation. If cost cutting were the only consideration, companies could easily hire the on-shore unemployed. I am interested in the effects of globalization on women's lives -- Barbara Ehrenreich's "Global Woman" is a must-read.

I am also interested in the links between capitalism, imperialism and racism.
